Spending time in nature is healthy. Whether it is a walk in green space or immersion in wilderness, the natural world has calming effect on us all. Contemporary research is telling us that nature is an essential part of ourselves and that many of the personal and relationship challenges that we encounter in our daily lives result from a disconnect from nature. By consciously spending time in the natural world, we not only cultivate a sense of calm, but we also enhance our creativity, improve our relationships, and ultimately live more healthy and fulfilling lives. Attention Restoration Theory (ART) tells us that time in nature increases concentration and productivity. ARTs founder Professor Stephen Kaplan has conducted comprehensive research to demonstrate the positive effects of nature based experiences. The Horne Lake Outdoor Centre exists to provide safe and fun nature based experiences to all sorts of people.
